Georgetown Holiday Street Style

IMG_1490 (1)

Hello readers! My name is Emma, and I am currently a student with an interest in fashion merchandising and marketing. I am very excited to be joining the ladies of The Lovely Thread as the resident street style blogger! I met Sarah through my job at Mint Condition and we instantly bonded over our love of clothes. Street style has always been fascinating to me, and I find myself drawing the most inspiration for my own outfits from real girls on the street. Although I love to watch high fashion runway shows and browse the looks online, it’s amazing seeing how girls all around the globe put together outfits to showcase their unique styles. I hope my take on street style will help to spark imagination and inspiration in your everyday looks!

This December, I took to the streets of Georgetown to see what people are wearing for the holiday season.

It Runs in the Family

Growing up, I was not always the best big sister to my little sis. I hated it when she tried to hang out with me and my friends. I hated that she tried to copy my comebacks, and at times, even used then against me (smart girl). There were times when I felt that she just wanted to be me, copying my every move. I would get annoyed and frustrated when my mother wanted me to include her in my activities. This is one of my biggest regrets in life. My younger sister is quite the phenomenal young woman. She is bright, a talented artist, and an advocate against bullying. I would love to say that she copied my actions, and that I had something to do with her becoming who she is today. However, I know that she has always been this way. Danielle is an individual, the type of person you are lucky enough to meet once in a lifetime. The way she speaks about her peers, stands up for them and holds her head high when others are rude, is simply amazing. All these years, my mother told me to set a good example, that my sister looked up to me. Who would guess that it turned out to be the other way around. I look up to this woman and her talents, accomplishments, and confidence. The images below are her senior portraits. When I took these, I wanted to capture not only her outer beauty, but her inner beauty as well. Our fashion sense goes hand in hand– she is never scared to try out a new look.

Here’s to many more years of a wonderful sister relationship – Cheer’s to Miss Danielle!

Happy Halloween Lovelies!!!!  In honor of this fun, scary and absolutely fabulous holiday, I am releasing my cat eye tutorial.  This cat eye is a great way to add a little bit of drama to your everyday look.  It can be intimidating, but with the right tools, patience and practice you’ll have this look down in no time!

Next, I would like to introduce a new member to The Lovely Thread.  A little while ago, my husband and I felt it was time to add a little something to our family.  Meet Salem!  Our amazing new kitty that we rescued from a local shelter.  Shelby approves of her new brother – they play together, sleep together and even lick each other!

There’s not a more appropriate time to introduce our little black cat – Happy Halloween!

Salem does not appreciate dressing up.  We’ll get him there one day …..
